HBDAY Grace Coddington

“If Wintour is the Pope . . . , Coddington is Michelangelo, trying to paint a fresh version of the Sistine Chapel twelve times a year” – Time Magazine

Hello readers, how’s your weekend going? Well it turns out that today is Grace Coddington’s birthday!! how wonderful to write a full post about this fashion icon, I could not imagine fashion industry nor Vogue without her, she’s one key person in global fashion.

Grace Coddginton was born on April 20, 1941 (71) Anglesey, Wales. I cannot believe she turned 71, who would imagine a person that age could still do the great and wonderful things Grace keeps doing.

As most of you know Grace Creative Director of Vogue USA, used to be a model, gorgeous face btw, she has said that when she was young one of the best things could happen to her was to get Vogue’s issue, she used to wait anxiously.

When she was 17 she started to model, thanks to a Vogue model competition, since she won the Young Model section, this triumph led to so many things.

Unfortunately she suffered a car accident which disfigured her face, though her face was reconstructed… anyway that didn’t affect her sense of fashion and her unique touch, after that she worked as Junior Editor, Photo Editor (British Vogue), until she joined Vogue USA with Anna Wintour were she’s created such legacy, playing one of the most important roles in the magazine.

I personally think she has made such an amazing and unique job, Vogue would definitely not be the same withour her, she and Anna Wintour together are explosive, the perfect combination to create fashion, she’s a master piece.

I strongly recommend you to watch the September Issue and read her book A Memoir.

We love Grace!
